I am familiar with a myriad of catastrophes and disasters both around me and world wide. I have watched floods in China that claimed over 400,000 people, Cyclones in Bhola that claimed 500,000 people, the Haiti earthquakes that claimed over 300,000 lives and even in our own country, 1998 Terror attack that claimed over 200 people, school fires and diseases like H.I.V., Cancer, Malaria and many more.
But in my whole life, av never experienced or even come across a catastrophe that affected the whole world at the same time. COVID 19 is for sure a brand new challenge, one that even the gurus of today or even the old who are endowed with wisdom and experience cannot advise us. Our governments are at a loss. Thank God for the superpowers who always step in to help and support but this time they are worse hit by this pandemic. No Church, no school, No work, and am very sad that I am not able to reach out to our wonderful children at operation hope, even at a family level, we had a serious Easter family party that we had to cancel and so on and so on.
I must say, av never been more glad about being a Christian like I am in this season. Faith and hope have been of great help at this moment. Nevertheless, I must say quarantine has magnified my fears and anxiety. Watching the numbers grow daily, worse still it came into my neighborhood, the thought of a loved one getting infected, not being able to take care of them, maybe even losing them and being given hours to mourn and bury them………These horrifying thoughts sometimes are very paralyzing.
I thank God that i had gotten a sneak preview of this, as our boss Irene had warned us through a revelation she had gotten. All these notwithstanding, I realized that I need reinforcement to be able to get through this, I quickly needed a mantra to get me through these devastating times.
As I was pecking and pecking, I came across this very powerful statement that has now become my mantra “I do not seek to understand so that I may believe, but I believe so that I may understand, and what is more, I believe that unless I do believe, I shall not understand” St Anselem of Canterbury
“For I have good plans for you” Such scriptures were now becoming questions rather than answers…….what good is there in all these??? But now I first believe that God has good plans for me, regardless of what I see, hear or experience then I will understand how that rolls out even with COVID. There are no answers, not even the W.H.O.(Our current world’s Health Solution finders and givers) have answers, so where does that leave us? Am very excited to announce that the word of God does have answers even in times such as these, the only trick is, we MUST believe it completely then we shall understand.
Taking God at His word is the only victorious way out of these trying times. We must have faith…..and this quarantine season is an excellent time for us to grow in our faith. Strong faith in God will not only help us to come out of the COVID pandemic successfully but also help us pursue purpose, come face to face with our weaknesses, and activate the power within us, the power which God uses to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ever imagine.
As we grow our faith through purposefully studying the word of God, building our private and family altars, and acting in accordance to the word, we are coming out of this, stronger, wiser and more compassionate, as the pure breed of God’s children that we really are, with divine D.N.A. created for greatness. Cheer up, if you are still here, God is not yet done with you, exploits await you.
