Have you ever been in a situation where everything just seems to be working against you? To the right, left and center the wind is just blowing against you, cornering you, and every spark of hope seems gone. Where all the diligence of the flesh, desires of the spirit, cravings of the soul, thoughts of the mind all end up in one quagmire of life called ‘frustration’.
I recently read a book titled; ‘When God does not make sense’, a subtitle;’ when God seems distant’, a phrase; ‘is He really listening?’ and a verse,’why do you stand far off, lord, why do you hide your face in times of trouble’.
One of my friends passed on at a very young age, he loved Jesus Christ and was a devoted Christian. His marriage had not lasted three months and everyone was saddened by the news of the accident that took away his life: My dad became ill for some time and I trusted God for His healing; friends and fellowships constantly prayed for him and I sought 7 days of prayer and fasting trusting God to restore back my Dads health. It dint take long before he passed on. Was it a surprise to God? Certainly not! When I lost a courtship that was almost three years, I could never make sense out of it. So why did God allow it to break? Many would say it’s for His glory but really? Am tempted to express my ‘feelings’ of disappointment after relying on God too much, and honestly no one can stand and convince me that maybe it wasn’t Gods will in the first place. God is God, would he really have allowed his child to walk down a wrong path then wake up one morning and hit them at the back whispering ‘hey, you have been wrong all that time?’ making what seemed so right, appear so wrong.
If you have been subjected to acute life austerity you probably understand the frustration in my voice, but guess what? God never leaves, He never forsakes, and He is always there with you.
I refrain from citing more examples of Christian walk that highly suggests feelings of betrayal by God and how he seemed to uncaring let them down. It’s even irritating when some Christians offer simplistic explanations and flippant comments, quoting Rom8:28 “all things work for good”, well this is true and the person hurting remembers that verse better than you. Times I was tempted to tell them to come back when they’ve gone thru something like that, then you can talk again. I read of a cheeky humorous nun, St.Teresa of Avila, who reportedly said to God, “If this is the way you treat your friends, it’s no wonder you have so few”
SILENCE!
Yes it may all seem to work against you but truth is God is God and He will remain to be God. Choose to rise up above your situation and know that you are more than a conqueror in all situations. I did, and my success story was all because I chose to believe with full assurance that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER, TO FIT INTO A PLAN FOR GOOD TO AND FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS DESIGN AND PURPOSE.
